Spies like us
Scott has been going back to work after putting stan to bed (dont' worry, it's only for this week), and last night we were talking on the phone as he drove home at about 11:30, he mentioned that there was a police car behind him. When we came in the house we looked through the windows and saw two or three police cars driving slowly back and forth, so of coures we turned off the lights and started spying with real intent. There were the cars, and one officer on foot, walking around, looking places, and talking to the cops in the cars. They finally parked across the street and two of them went to the door of our neighbor (the scary kid who's just squatting in the house because it's for sale and vacant...he's the son of the lady who left and was always telling everyone to call the police if we saw the kid...). Another one came from behind the house, so the three of them were standing on the porch, talking to the kid. Meanwhile there were 4 or 5 more cop cars just circling around or parking down the street (here's where it gets tricky, see, because you have to watch the street through the kitchen window and the kid's front door through the writing room windows...). the three cops went inside, and another one came from behind the house and went inside. Then they came out escorting the kid to the car, and the other cop came out and went to his car. Two other random guys came out of the house and walked down the driveway to kind of see him off, then they went back inside. All the other cop cars left. It was kind of anti-climactic, but it was interesting enough to keep us up, and was kind of exciting to spy together. I was kicking myself for remembering to close the bedroom window earlier in the day :) A family we knew was thinking of buying the house a few weeks ago and had a lab test done to see if there had ever been a meth lab in it, but there wasn't. So it was probably just a warrent they had on him for something else....if it had been something happening in the house, the other guys would have gone with him. So that's that- a little adventure in our sleepy little neighborhood :)
